it’s been a long time
Guess you’re thinking that I lost interest and given up on My Football Team?
That maybe I got lost in a January sales crush never to return?
About how I may have ended up half-crazed, sprawled across the sofa and unable to move and so starved to death after a Twilightathon.
I’m pleased to say - nope, no and hell no.
One has been diligently playing one’s game each and every week. So much so that progress has been made:

One top spot secured, one second place held and one third seat well and truly occupied.

wake up call
So that week off the footy was enjoyed a little too much and didn’t change my team ready for last week’s fixtures. But what’s the big deal? I mean, players gotta play right?
Turns out not exactly.
I had a lucky escape, levelling with the average points for last week.

Time to dust of the game face ready for this weekend.
Suppose that it is hard not to get carried away with living the dream of a football-free life… *sigh*

and relax…
No need to use up valuable brain time pondering transfers.
No need for the stress of whom from my line up will get a surprise ingury in training or end up on the bench.
No football this weekend :)
Instead this time can be put to much better use.
Nails at 10:30, dance lesson at 11:00 and shopping from 12pm.
Done.

sometimes, it pays to wait
My football management career to date can be summarised as: http://youtu.be/U3JEORDUEqc
The twist paid off, Ba scored a trick in GW 10 and put in a good performance in GW 11 too. Helping to push me up in all my leagues.

But my team doesn’t live on Ba alone, Agbonlahor has been pretty solid since his purchase.
So then Football, looks like things are heating up… and that’s without paying attention to anything other that Gary Lineker’s facial hair on Match of the Day.

twist it is

stick or twist?
I ate points last week.
Figured that the -4 points for that extra transfer was worth it. That I was onto a winner. Aguero was out injured, a grudge match for Man U and Liverpool and a rumour that Zamora was a player on the up.
Maybe it was just one of those weeks that happen once in a while where teams across the league just have a low ebb?
It was slightly reassuring that the average points were low. Yet can’t help thinking that this could have been one of those rare weeks where I could claw back some points - capitalise on the downer.

So this week’s gamble - stick with the guys I invested in, or try and make a cunning twist?A decision to be pondered over lunch rather than an empty stomach.

other plans
I should have been suspicious when there were no demands to Sky+ MOTD and MOTD2…
I should have paid attention to the lack of rowdy football fans on the trains…
I should have read the dates on the fixtures properly…
The truth is I was too tied up in the bliss of new jumpers, the softness of new fluffy hats and dreamscape of delicious bags to notice that Football also had other plans this weekend.
To be honest Football, I do feel a little put out. I did my team. I even incurred a point deduction to get out the Football Boys I wanted.
Only I can ignore you, it’s not fair for you to ignore me.

shoe shopping vs team selection
Nothing gets between a lady and her shoes.
Well, apart from:

Team selection can happen in the morning. Who knows, maybe it’ll help sooth the shopping hang over… probably not :/
Don’t shake your head at me football, your football boys are far worse…

getting into the swing
OK, so I’ve not been vocal about my teams progress lately.
Mainly because I do actually have other things in my life than just the ‘beautiful game’ (inverted speech marks dictate sarcasm), and also because I forgot.
…and it worked! By some crazy twist of fate my ‘not buying Rooney’ decision paid off. He went off injured, in walked Bale to score and leverage me some points.
Missing the games also meant I accumulated two transfer opportunities, meaning that with 10 minutes before the 11am cut off point on Saturday I was haphazardly making key decisions. Bought myself a cheaper goalkeeper (Vorm) and invested some dollars upfront in the form of Agbonlahor. Nanni was just too expensive to warrant a midfield shuffle, and Agbonlahor was looking like a sound move. His goal and assist against Wigan leveraged my positions within all leagues - nice… even if next week he does pose a conflict of interests with my City players Silva and Aguero.
So yeah. Green little ‘up’ arrows all round.
Bagged the top score in the Keating Krown league (with a position shift to second) and getting really close to the tail end of Poke Premiership, coming in second for the second week running (and these guys have a game week extra on me).
To prevent another lapse in interest, and bit of frustration at being last, my new aim is to better the average points… that, or to make football cupcakes.

Gameweek 3 - the result
Rooney got 17 points.
Klasnic got 5.
If there was ever a case study needed to support a Mulberry bag purchase, this is it.
